As hazardous as it is for pedestrians in Raleigh, it must much more dangerous for anyone with mobility problems. Hopefully the problem will be corrected ASAP. Thanks.
This is a civil rights issue, not just a safety issue. The 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act established that sidewalks without curb cuts are discriminatory and cities have been required to install curb cuts since 1992 whenever there is a resurfacing of existing roads, which has not been done at this particular intersection since 1992.
We have a citywide program to retrofit all our intersections with ADA-compliant ramps. I will refer this to our Public Works Department to check where this one is scheduled for retrofit.
