call the police. I live and work in this area and this is a problem that is not helped by looking the other way. Some people need help to get to a shelter or treatment. The drug trade in the area is huge and because of that there is some real violence. My house has been broken into in the past by metal thieves, now I just get holes punched in my roof because I call the cops when I hear gun shots or see any kind of sellers. It sucks but I live here with my family and we want it to get better. Most people don't call, and as a result, neighborhood crime rates look falsely low, and folks think everything is safe and great. Raleigh historic districts need people to care and look at the problems honestly. This is a season for awareness, less tragic accidents or loss happen when we all share responsibility.
I wouldn't describe this neighborhood in the above terms at all, but this house is definitely a problem. It's been vacant and untended for years and years now, and it's anyone's guess why the city allows it to continue.
I agree with both. For the record, I did call, and mainly because I live on the 300 block of Worth have been encouraged to do so by RPD for all events. I do have some reservations about making those calls and potentially endangering those with a true emergency, but have been reassured that's not the case and dispatchers are trained to deal with those things.
I do hope by posting this here a longer term solution is brought together, for both residents and business owners, in the area.

Downtown District officers have made an assessment of this location and will contact the property owner. The property is posted “No Trespassing” and officers will continue to monitor this location for compliance.
