I agree completely with the concern expressed - had been meaning to ask about it, myself! With the cold weather, the many unfilled potholes (created by the folks doing the water/sewer work) are only going to get worse, and as it is, you can't drive more than 3 feet without encountering a pothole.

I've referred this to our Public Utilities Department. When the staff has had a chance to respond I’ll post an update. Thanks for reporting.

I e-mailed Danny Ingram and he told me it would be 2-3 weeks. I would encourage everyone who lives on the 2400 block of Stevens Road to contact him so maybe they will get the point that our patience has run out!

After following up with the Contractor, J F Wilkerson, they have been impacted due to weather and the holidays delaying completion of the work about 2 weeks. They have 12 remaining water service connections to complete which will be done by January 17, 2014. At that point, they will mill and repave the entire section of this street. This is a weather and temperature dependent work item which can be impacted in the months of January and February. The project superintended has informed us they have made additional efforts to improve the present street condition for residents. When residents were first notified of this project we were informed that it would be completed in September. I'd say that's a little more than a two week delay for completion. This has been nearly 6 months of mud, dust, debris, and noise. While the work is certainly necessary I cannot imagine what it is costing the city (and us) for the project to drag on in this fashion.

You are correct, the original schedule had the contractor completing work in September. However the original project was for replacement of the waterlines only. You may recall we had to do an emergency repair with in the last year on part of the sewer in Stevens Rd. At that point we determined sewer was deteriorated beyond the useful life and had to be replaced. This work was added to the contract and extended the project length due to the additional work.
